Opera’s nod to Broadway! An evening of opera and musical theatre from Puccini to Porter

The National Youth Orchestra of Canada has represented Canada on the world stage since it was founded in 1960. Their performances are on the level of any professional orchestra in the country due to intensive training and youthful energy. Sibelius’s Second Symphony captures the ruggedness and stark beauty of the Canadian Shield as well as it does the landscape of his native Finland.

For 45 years, the Iseler Singers, Elora Festival and Festival of the Sound have championed great music. This once-a-generation performance of Carl Orff’s iconic Carmina Burana is not to be missed.

Inspired by family postcards dating from the Russian Revolution through WWII, Alan Stein has created artwork revealing real and imagined experiences in his grandparent’s lives. Projections will be accompanied by music that reflects the period.

Olivier Messiaen’s life was turned upside down when he was interned in a POW camp at the beginning of the War, forcing him to seek refuge in his music and his Catholic faith. The result is considered the greatest chamber music work of the 20th century.
